Labels for bottles and jars – what should they include?
Labels visible on all types of packaging are a means of marking goods and communicating with potential customers. Those placed on bottles and jars containing food should include specific key information for the consumer—not just about the type of product. So, what should a label on a jar or bottle look like?

Bottles and jars containing food products—such as milk or jam—should have clear labels. These labels serve as a source of information about the product and a marketing tool—for instance if they are designed in the same colour scheme as a well-known brand logo. A well-designed label distinguishes the product from competitors, sticks in the consumer’s memory for a long time, and helps them associate the product with a specific manufacturer.
In addition to the appropriate colour scheme, fonts, and graphics, it should also be characterised by durability and resistance to abrasion. With such features, it can travel from the production site to the destination point, namely the shop, and then to the customer.
What labels on juices and preserves must contain?
The label on a bottle or jar should include several essential pieces of information, regardless of the type of food product. In addition to the type of goods, the name and address of the manufacturer, it must also feature a barcode, capacity, and use-by date.
Another important element of the label is the precise ingredients of the product, including a list of allergens, the energy value, and information about the content of preservatives.
Sometimes producers also indicate the location where the fruits were harvested – for many customers, the fact that the product comes from Poland is very important. Labels on juices, jams, or vegetable purées should also include information about storage conditions.
Importantly, all label elements on a bottle or jar must be phrased in a clear, consumer-friendly manner – they must not mislead in any way, even in the slightest.

Labels for juices, mayonnaise, or jams should be made from materials resistant to abrasion, low temperatures, and moisture, as these products are typically stored in refrigerators.
In addition to the material, the adhesive used is also of great importance. The shape and design of the label depend solely on the producer’s vision – the more interesting it is, the greater the chance of capturing the buyer’s attention. It is important that it is associated at first glance with a specific type of product.
