Is a kiss cut the same as a die cut?

No. A die cut passes through the facestock, the adhesive and the liner so the piece comes away completely, whereas a kiss cut stops at the liner so the label remains on its backing. Both use a shaped tool, so the difference is the depth setting rather than the tooling, and it decides whether the order arrives as loose pieces or as a roll or sheet.
