How Much Do 3D Domed Stickers Cost? What Determines the Production Price?
When budgeting for product branding, every manager or business owner is on the lookout for concrete answers. However, when it comes to bespoke products such as domed stickers, a rigid “off-the-shelf price list” generally doesn’t exist.
Why? Because the price of 3D stickers is the upshot of several variables — from the printing technology, through the type of resin used, all the way to production logistics. Getting your head around these mechanisms will not only help you plan your spend more effectively, but — above all — optimise your order so as to achieve the lowest possible unit cost.

The decisive factor: print run versus unit price of 3D stickers
In print and doming technology, the principle of economies of scale rules the roost. Every job — whether you’re ordering 50 or 5,000 stickers — requires the same preparation: setting up the machines, calibrating the cutting plotter and mixing the polyurethane resin.
- Small runs (e.g. 100 pieces): Production set-up costs are spread across a small number of units, which makes the price per piece the highest.
- Large runs (e.g. 5,000+ pieces): Fixed costs become almost imperceptible across the whole order, and the unit price drops dramatically.
Tip: It often happens that adding an extra 200 pieces to your order pushes the total invoice up by just a few per cent, significantly lowering the average price of a single sticker.
Surface area and the pricing of resin material usage (we count in “cm²”)
The mathematics behind doming pricing is straightforward: the bigger the sticker, the more raw material we use. However, it’s worth remembering that the most expensive component isn’t the film backing — it’s the polyurethane resin. Unless, that is, you’re going for special films with exceptional adhesion or decorative ones. In that case, their price can be a significant component of the production quote.
A larger promotional sticker surface means not only more “cm²” of printed material, but — above all — a thicker and heavier layer of resin. To achieve the lens effect on a large format, the machine has to pour out considerably more material, so that surface tension can maintain the dome at the edges.
It’s worth reiterating that the three-dimensional, transparent and flexible coating works as the ultimate laminate option, and makes these striking stickers fully resistant to weather conditions, resistant to UV rays and mechanical damage, as well as to high and low temperatures.
Type of film in printing — Standard vs. Premium print
The choice of film onto which we print has a direct bearing on the production cost of 3D stickers.
- Economy options: White glossy or transparent self-adhesive film. This is the market standard, which fits the bill for 90% of promotional sticker applications.
- Premium options: Metallised films (silver chrome, mirrored gold) or vinyl materials with a brushed-aluminium texture. These are more expensive to purchase, which pushes up the final price, but they give products a distinctive look.
Importantly, at the POLINAL printing house we print stickers on film digitally, which means that the number of colours in your logo generally doesn’t affect the price. You can have tonal gradients and photographs at the same price as simple, single-colour text. If the design calls for it, digital printing always delivers intense colours.
Shape of resin stickers and the complexity of the job
The machines that dispense polyurethane onto domed stickers handle any curved shapes best. How complex the outline of your sticker is has a knock-on effect on machine running time and technological risk.
- Regular shapes (circles, ovals, rectangles with rounded corners): These domed labels are the cheapest to produce. The resin spreads naturally and quickly across them.
- Non-standard shapes (any letters, stars, sharp notches in the artwork): These demand more work on the vector file and artwork, slow the machines down, and generate more material waste per sheet. Jobs like these — with bespoke dimensions and shapes — are priced on an individual basis.

Comparison: How does the price of domed stickers change depending on quantity?
The table below illustrates the pricing logic (the percentage figures are indicative, to show how savings scale with larger batches).
| Run size (pieces) | Estimated unit cost | Why? |
| 100 | 100% (baseline) | A high share of production set-up costs. |
| 500 | approx. 40–50% of the baseline price | Fixed costs are spread across 5 times as many pieces. |
| 2000 | ok. 20-25% ceny bapprox. 20–25% of the baseline price | Optimal use of material sheets and machine time. |
| 5000+ | Price negotiated individually | Maximum process optimisation, lowest raw material price. Longer lead time. |
A framework order for 3D domed stickers
If you’re in a position to pinpoint a recurring level of demand for 3D domed stickers coated in polyurethane, it’s worth considering placing a framework order covering several quarters. We’ll then put production in ahead of the deadlines and deliver the stickers we produce in line with an agreed schedule. The benefits of a framework order like this:
- the best possible price,
- a guarantee of on-time deliveries,
- a guarantee of production consistency,
- priority service.
From our experience of working with clients, we know that these factors carry particular weight when domed stickers serve as permanent, mandatory marking on products once they leave production (for example, in the white goods sector). Ongoing partnerships with manufacturers are an important strand of POLINAL’s work.
Summary – How to get the best quote?
To keep your production cost for 3D domed stickers as low as possible, when preparing your request for quotation, specify exactly:
- The dimensions of the domed sticker (width and height in mm).
- The quantity of stickers (it’s worth asking about two options, for example 500 and 1,000 pieces).
- The type of printing substrate (whether white will do, or whether you need a metallic effect).
- The application surface for the marking (we’ll help you choose the right adhesive — standard or reinforced).
Would you like to receive a specific quote tailored to your project?
Send us the dimensions and a rough quantity, and we’ll put together a free quotation for you within a few hours. If the shape is unusual, do send over the vector artwork. We can also suggest minor tweaks to the format that will let you save money by making optimal use of the material sheet. Get a quote and order eye-catching finishing and product marking with three-dimensional stickers, and give your products the recognition they deserve.
